Sustainable Black Leather Segment Belt

The Segment Belt is derived from a VL classic design from the 90s and has been revived to create a chic yet sustainable belt option.

We create these belts from surplus vegetable tanned Italian leather which is left over after cutting our Classic belts. This means that the pieces are diverted from landfill and create a unique belt with leathers of various subtle differences in the finish, meaning no two are the same.

As always, crafted by hand in our London workshop, the belt is 1 1/2" wide, the perfect width for jeans.

The leather is vegetable tanned, which means it is produced in the most natural way possible. This beautifully preserves the organic past life of the material, so occasional growth marks or surface imperfections are occasionally visible.

To us, it’s important that the leather we use aligns with our values. Alongside creating long lasting, timeless products, we must ensure we minimise our impact on the planet, by crafting our pieces responsibly.

All of our leather is supplied by tanneries who are audited and certified by the Leather Working Group.

The Leather Working Group is the world’s largest leather sustainability program. LWG has identified environmental best practices in the industry and audits tanneries to assess the environmental performance of leather manufacturing facilities – and certifies those that meet the standards.

The leather used for our Classic belts, our Missouri, Idaho and Dakota collections, and our Stitched belts is all supplied by a Tuscan tannery that has a Silver Rating from the LWG, as well as being a member of The Genuine Italian Vegetable Tanned Leather Consortium.

The Consortium’s mission is to safeguard the centuries-old tradition of vegetable tanning and to guarantee the quality of the raw material and workmanship. The Consortium guarantees manufacturing processes compatible with the ecosystem and not harmful to people.

Everything you see here is lovingly handmade on site by a member of our small team.
